AIDM
Awareness, Identify, Define, Mindfulness. It’s my core approach for uncovering what’s really driving hesitation.

I made my first real estate call in 1998. I was scared to death, and I made it anyway.
Fourteen months later, I had sold 72 homes. People assumed I was a natural. I wasn’t. I was a guy from New Hampshire who had figured out, mostly by accident, how to keep picking up the phone when every part of me wanted to put it down.
That gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it has been my life’s work ever since.
Over nearly 30 years, I’ve made more than 350,000 sales calls and conducted over 100,000 coaching sessions. I’ve sat with brand-new agents who couldn’t dial a single number and with seven-figure producers who were quietly stuck. I’ve trained more than 1,100 ownership and management teams, mostly brokers, team leaders, and sales managers, on building culture around core values and hiring, managing, and leading by them.
What I learned is that call reluctance is almost never a skills problem. Scripts don’t fix it. Pep talks don’t fix it. “Just make more calls” definitely doesn’t fix it.
Call reluctance, and its cousins procrastination, perfectionism, hesitancy, fear of rejection, and imposter syndrome, has a root cause. Very few people know where it comes from. Find that root and work from there, and the phone stops being the enemy.
That’s what I do. As far as I know, nobody else does it quite the way I do.
I didn’t learn about breaking through barriers only from a sales floor.
Years ago I was a contestant on The Biggest Loser, and I lost 200 pounds. That experience taught me something no business book could: lasting change doesn’t come from willpower. It comes from understanding why you do what you do, and then building a system that works even on the days you don’t feel like it.
I’ve spent my life fascinated by what makes people consistent at getting better, in their health, their business, and their relationships. The patterns are the same everywhere.
Everything I teach comes from that work:
Awareness, Identify, Define, Mindfulness. It’s my core approach for uncovering what’s really driving hesitation.
Each one has a different cause and needs a different fix.
A 5-step process that turns all of this into a repeatable way to prospect with confidence.
My work starts with a simple question: what is keeping you from doing what you know you want or need to do? That question matters in a sales career, in leadership, in a business, and in life.
Identify patterns, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop more consistent habits in your health, relationships, and personal growth.
Help owners and leaders build values-led cultures, strengthen hiring and management practices, and translate strategy into consistent action.
Work through uncertainty, confidence, career direction, and the barriers that make professional decisions and transitions difficult.
Bring practical lessons about resilience, personal change, leadership, prospecting, and overcoming hesitation to teams and audiences.
I’ve written several books, including the bestselling Six-Figure Agent, ReThink Everything You “Know” About Prospecting, and Tragic Hero. I write regularly for Top Sales Magazine. I’ve appeared on Times Square Today (broadcast on ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS), and my work has been featured in Fortune, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, and USA Today.

View on Amazon ↗Of everything I’ve done, what I’m proudest of is raising four kids, Maryfrances, Alex, Emma, and Caroline, into healthy, grounded adults. Life wasn’t always easy for our family. It taught me, sometimes the hard way, that integrity and honesty matter more than any number on a scoreboard.
It also taught me that problems aren’t detours. They’re the journey. Working through them is how we become stronger, more resourceful, and more resilient. I believe that about life, and I believe it about your sales career.
When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me speaking to young people through my church and youth programs, as I’ve done for years, from Boston to McKinney, Texas. Or you’ll find me laughing at something. I love comedy, and I’ve never trusted a coach who takes himself too seriously.
I still have a couple of coaches of my own. I practice what I preach.
